P.S.......

......Cameron's two bottom teeth have cut through!

Solids

Around the 4 month mark, Cameron started to nurse every hour and a half. It may have been a growth spurt.....that lasts over 4 weeks. I don't think so. I know that "they" recommend waiting until 6 months until introducing solids, but I had to do what I thought was best for me and my boy. So we started rice cereal. He loved it! He gobbled it right up. The nursing returned to every three hours.

After 2 weeks, he became constipated. I assumed it to be the cereal because that has been the only change in his life, so prunes it is......

It was fine for the first couple of days, It did what it was supposed to, but by day 4 or 5 Cameron had enough. It started with gagging and ended with mouth shut tight, head turned and Mommy's hand pushed away. Okay. No more prunes. Or anything else for that matter. I'm guessing he associated his spoon with prunes because as soon as he saw it, his mouth was shut and was not going to open anytime soon. (Oat cereal had been recommended, to help against constipation, but he wouldn't even consider it after the prunes). So we took a week break (which meant every hour and a half again). And just this morning we tried cereal again (with a little apple mixed in). It was a smash hit!

Yesterday, Kristie-Lynn, Jude, Cameron and I headed over to Sheri and Olivia's for a play date
( although not once that whole afternoon were all three babies awake at the same time) and marathon Baby food making. We made peaches, pears, a whole lot of yams, carrots, Pork and Chicken. The pork and chicken smelled and looked nasty but didn't taste too bad. The fruit was wonderful and the veggies weren't too bad either. (Gotta know what I'm giving him). It was a lot of work, but the company made it fun and the time fly by, plus we know what exactly is going into our babies bodies.

Olivia and Cameron. They were super cute playing together. At one point they were holding hands. As we were working, Olivia started to scream, Cameron had found her hair and did his pulling thing. (I have to teach my little man how to properly treat the ladies)

Peek-a-Boo

When I make the bed, I place Cameron at the head on our pillows and then cover him with our blankets and as he wiggles his way out, we play Peek-a-Boo. Which he finds hilarious. Now anytime he's laying in our bed, it's playtime. And just recently he's figured out that if he covers his head back up, we'll keep on playing. It's absolutely adorable. What a smart boy we have!

Motherhood Reflections

When we were doing Baby Massage, the Massage Therapist asked us what are favourite things about our Babies is. That's a hard one! There are so many wonderful things about my Cameron. I love the way he smiles when Michael or I enter the room. Or the way he gets excited, his giggles and laughs. I love watching him observe and learn the world around him. The list goes on.......
I answered "the way Cameron communicates", which I guess envelopes everything I just listed. I love the way he looks at me, with such love, admiration and trust, right from the very beginning. Even when I'm unsure, feeling inadequate or overwhelmed he knows I'm there for him and that I'll always take care of him.

Motherhood is a very bittersweet calling. Watching my little one grow up is so amazing and I am so proud when he reaches his milestones but on the other hand I'm kind of sad too. It's all happening WAY too fast! On Tuesday my little man turned 5 months. Where has the time gone? He was born 7lbs 6oz and is already 17lbs and 9oz. I love the little person he is becoming but I can't help mourning what he's leaving behind. For example when I see newborns all curled up I think Cameron doesn't do that anymore. When he was born I could hold him in one arm and now I can barely hold him in both.

I am feel very blessed that I get to stay home and be there for every part of his growing up. I wouldn't miss it for the world. There is nothing greater than being a Mother. Cameron was worth the wait!

Little Dipper

On Thursday we started our "little dippers" class at the YMCA. Cameron's first time swimming. As we were standing on the poolside waiting for class to start, he just gazed at the water, waiting to go in. The water was a bit cool, but we had fun. A bit of tummy time on the edge to splash splash a bit. Monkey's jumping, The Hokey Pokey, The wheels on the bus and other fun games. He made it through the whole half hour. His favourite though was the hot tub. He lay on my chest and sprawled out and relaxed. This is what he was waiting for the whole time. He was in his own element.

It's great fun, all of our baby group (except Jill and Milo, we missed you guys) are in the class plus a few others. More friends for Cameron!

Testing his vocal cords

My little guy is a real talker and has been from the very beginning. At first most of his sounds were in his sleep as that is what he did most of the time. (and like I mentioned in a previous post, he likes to talk himself to sleep) When he first started to be awake for longer periods of time his favourite thing would be to have me undress his legs, I would sit there pushing my hands against his bare feet while he kicked and squealed. And he could squeal!

He's gone through the "grunting" which sounds a little cavemanish. He's done the "babbling" where he's telling you his stories, he even has his sob stories, where his babbling is accompanied by whining. He likes to purse his lips together and "mmmmmmmmm" which sometimes evolves into "mummm mumm mum muumm". He's tried the "shrieking/screaming" which I do have to say is really cute but really loud. For example in church during Sacrament meeting on his Auntie Erin's lap, he tells her a whole bunch through screeching. As cute/funny as it was, he was the only one making noise beside the speaker which happened to be his Daddy. Or we were at Walmart and I took him to the Family bathroom to feed and change him and on the change table (accompanied with the bathroom acoustics) Cameron had a conversation with the Diapering kit dipenser.

On occasion Cameron likes to test out his sounds at 3:00 in the morning, He just lays in his Bassinet having a grand ole time. ( One of the times I will drag myself out of bed to tape him). One morning he lay there laughing, even though it's an obscene hour, I can't be upset, because it's just too darn cute!
His current noise is "fake coughing" almost like a grown ups "AHEM". He'll just lay there and "cough" over and over. I think it's one of my favourites.

I wonder what is going to happen when he learns his words. Are the days of having a quiet household numbered?

Better than eating them

We had a full and fun day. But the best was after grocery shopping. As Michael was loading the car I was sitting in the back with my bag of M&M's (one of my many weaknesses). And Cameron thought me shaking it was hilarious. His first real hearty laugh. I only started taping closer to the end where the laughs turned to chuckles. But still pretty darn cute!! I love my little man!
